Broken facial capillaries treatment from Crown and Skin in Campbelltown
Intricate webs of thin red lines running along the surface of the skin, red blotches or streaks, especially around the nose, chin, and cheeks. Sound familiar? The capillaries in the face can become enlarged or dilated, (and are often called “broken”) causing such unsightly blemishes. Broken facial capillaries can spoil an otherwise perfect complexion and people often look for ways to cover or eliminate them. If you’re frustrated with trying to cover these facial veins with concealer and are looking for a more long-term solution that can give you a clear complexion, we can help!
There are quite a few at-home remedies that you’ll find through a quick online search, but many people find that these DIY treatments aren’t as effective as they hoped and don’t achieve the desired results. Laser treatment is the most effective treatment to eliminate unsightly burst blood vessels in the face.
What causes broken capillaries?
There are a range of different factors that can lead to the development of broken blood vessels in the face:
- Some people are genetically predisposed to burst capillaries
- Sun damage from overexposure to UV rays
- Over-consumption of alcohol
- Extreme stress on the circulatory system caused by sneezing or vomiting
- Scrubbing the skin too vigorously, especially on areas already prone to sensitivity
- Eating spicy foods
How can they be treated?
In the past, they were treated with injections or cautery needles – painful treatments which were often ineffective and occasionally caused scarring. At Crown and Skin, we remove broken capillaries with our Cutera Coolglide long-pulse laser, which we have found to be superior to IPL and other lasers. It is much less painful than most vascular lasers, and has an excellent safety profile.
The results from treating facial capillaries with the Cutera laser are often immediately visible with some of the capillaries disappearing at the time of treatment. However some of the capillaries will darken before fading away over a period of time after treatment.
