Crown and Skin offer Scalp Micropigmentation to patients in Campbelltown, Sydney
Scalp Micropigmentation is a revolutionary process using tattooing to create a realistic-looking hairline that is almost entirely visibly indistinguishable from natural hair. It is suitable for both men and women.
Using the micropigmenting technique, we are able to recreate the appearance of short or shaved hairs through the strategic placement of pigments onto the scalp. The technique works for people with both short and long hair and can help to redefine your hairline. It is helpful for masking the signs of Alopecia Areata, camouflaging scarring and hiding old hair transplant scars.
Scalp micropigmentation can be used in combination with hair transplantation to give the appearance of even greater density and thickness of hair.
The Scalp Micropigmentation Procedure
The tattooing involved in scalp micropigmentation is semi-permanent and will generally last from 2-5 years. However, the longevity of the tattooing will depend upon the patient’s sun exposure and individual resistance to the pigment. We use fine, hair-like strokes to disguise the appearance of thinning hair on the scalp. The procedure is performed using a hype-allergenic pigment.
We use anaesthetic to decrease any pain or discomfort during the procedure. Depending upon the depth of colour the patient desires, most patients are comfortable going out in public after 2-5 days. For patients considering larger micropigmentation procedures over a large area, we generally recommend that you try a “test” patch before moving forward with the more extensive procedure – this way you will be able to see the effect.
Is this the same as a normal ‘tattoo’?
The answer is both yes and no. Yes, the technique used is the same as with a traditional tattoo and this can be considered to be a form of tattoo. However, the pigments we use are distilled water-based which result in a semi-permanent result (normal tattoos use oil carrier-based pigments).
